By: Soxy Michelle Schrade’s life hasn’t always been a fairytale. She’s just like you and me. She got her heart broken weeks before her single ‘I Shall Believe’ hit #1 on the charts. According to my source Schrade’s serious boyfriend of 4 years left her for a younger, blonde version of Barbie, leaving our girl broken hearted. Amazingly Schrade toured with her love song ridden first album and smiled sweetly for the cameras. One can only wonder if her sophomore album will scream of a heart broken twenty-something with everything in the world, but someone to love. Kate turned around from the group as they entered one of the inn’s many back entrances and asked one of Mike’s bodyguards what she thought was the most obvious question. “Where is Mike?” Kenny looked down at the beautiful actress and merely stated, “taking care of business.” “She went to the bathroom?” Billy asked more confused than ever. “She went in the front entrance.” All heads turned quickly towards Orlando. He bit the side of his lip and continued, “I overheard her ask Justin if he would mind facing the firing squad.” “You mean she deliberately sent us this way so we wouldn’t have to deal with it?” Elijah asked softly. “Pretty much, a diversion of sorts. I just wonder what story broke that they would be interested in us too?” Dom asked understanding and admiring Mike more by the minute. “I don’t think it’s so much we would be apart of the story as much as it would be publicity we might not want to be linked with her,” Orlando said thoughtfully. “Come on guys, I promised the girl in question y’all wouldn’t be bothered by the paparazzi. Since she pays the bills, shut up or I’ll forcefully move ya,” Kenny said with a grin towards Kate who just winked and grabbed hold of Orlando’s hand.
~*~*~ Justin’s hand was placed firmly on the small of her back, his other hand holding hers in a gesture that would hint of lovers, not best friends. It was all apart of the game, she supposed. This wouldn’t be the first time they played it up in daylight. It would, however, be the first time she could barely think straight and felt so numb. Noticing her distress, Justin leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. About twenty flashes went off. He winced as the light temporarily blinded him, but pulled Mike closer. He still hadn’t gotten the full story from her, but was scared because he had never seen her like this. “Justin, what happened to Cameron?” “Mike, how do you feel about this new story?” “Is it true you begged for him back?” “Mike, how does it feel to lose the guy you love to some regular girl?” “Is it true that you threatened her?” “Mike, how do you feel about the big news?” “Justin, are you here for emotional support or physical comfort?” On and on the reporters went. Each one was a small blow, but like a professional she just smiled and shook her head. She stopped in front of all of them, the flashes almost blinding. Justin was right beside her, his hand firmly holding hers. “I’m feeling just fine, everyone. I’m having a lovely vacation. Jules just called and let me know about the story. All I can say is I wish them the best of luck, I will always love Timmy and I only wish him happiness. As to her other ‘stories’, I will say I have no idea what she’s talking about. I lost the guy. There is nothing any girl can do to change a guy’s heart.” “What is Justin doing here? Justin, what can you say about this situation?” One reporter shouted. “I’m here because I happen to be on vacation with one of my best friends. This situation was a personal one for Mike that was brought to the public eye by an attention depraved Barbie. Please guys, does it look or seem like Mike needs help getting a guy?” Justin looked appraisingly up and down the length of her body. The male reporters in the crowd parroted his appraisal and shook their heads in agreement. “So you would say that this all about a girl trying to get attention?” Mike answered softly, “It’s all about a girl who doesn’t realize she won the war. Every girl in the world knows what it’s like to get your heart broken.” Brushing a stray hair from her eyes she looked directly into one reporter’s eyes, Celia. “This is a girl who is every girl in the world’s worst nightmare. She’s the girl who stole the guy and now wants everyone else to know how great she is for winning. I’d be lying if I said this is easy, and I’ve never lied to my fans, family, and friends before. It’s hard; I’m dealing like any other girl would. Thank you for checking up on me though.” With that she grabbed Justin’s hand and let him escort her into the front entrance of the inn. Her heart literally aching with the thought of Timmy. How could this happen when she was so positive she was over him? When she was ready to break up another relationship where she thought she was really into the guy? She could never do to Kate what Stacey had done to her, Never. She closed the door behind her, leaving Justin in the living room area of her suite. She pressed a fist to her mouth to smother the sob that had been building since she received Julie’s phone call. Sure, she had moved on. She understood she lost the guy. She understood it was over. But marriage, it was like the final nail in the coffin she hadn’t realized she liked open. Memories came on like waves in a violent ocean. Slowly, she sank to her knees. She remembered vividly his eyes as he told her he was leaving her. He loved someone else. She wasn’t for him. She was away too much and couldn’t see to his needs. She’d dreamed her whole life of singing and writing music, but when he told her she wasn’t what he needed, well then all she wanted in life was to be enough for someone. She’d never told anyone how much it hurt not to be enough. No one understood why she’d pushed so hard. She could have taken a break after the first tour, but couldn’t bear to be home to remind her of him. Of everything she lost. Funny, a scant hour ago she was willing to break another girl’s heart so she could be happy. She was willing to kill another person’s soul so she could be enough to some guy. She, a silly girl, thought maybe she could be enough. If she couldn’t be enough to a regular guy she loved with every ounce of her soul, how could she possibly be enough to someone as remarkable as Orlando. The answer was simple. She couldn’t. She wouldn’t. She didn’t dare to try. It was only the second time in her life, but she’d made her decision on the bathroom floor of Chateau’s Inn; she wouldn’t even try to be enough for Orlando. She gave up. She picked up the phone that had been strategically placed next to the toilet in her massive bathroom. Dialed the familiar numbers and said simply, “Jules book me a flight, I’m coming home.”
